RIIS PARK ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY
How To: Genuine, Authentic Engagement Portraits
These days, with so many photographers sharing engagement and couples’ portraits from mountaintops and waterfalls, it can be tempting to go to the end of the earth for your engagement portraits. And, if the two of you love hiking mountains or going on wild adventures, then I’d say go for it! But, if you love nothing more than going for coffee, dressing up for dinner, or lazy walks along your local beach, then why not do that?
Getting engaged is such a wonderful, exciting time of life, and while it can get busy with wedding planning, your engagement photos are one of the few things that are truly just for you. So, choose a location that you love and that has meaning for you & your relationship. From there, those wonderful genuine, authentic Engagement Portraits will be easy – and you’ll treasure them for life. In fact, this is exactly what Sarah & Michael did!
Riis Park Engagement Photography
New York is an important part of Sarah & Michael’s story – they live together in Queens and Michael even proposed on Montauk Beach, surrounded by their closest friends. When it came time to plan their engagement photos, they knew that it had to be somewhere in New York. Of course, Montauk was a serious contender but, in the end, they decided they wanted to be somewhere closer to home – a place they love to visit in their everyday lives and that has special meaning to them. The choice was clear, and they booked in a Riis Park Engagement Photography session, a special gift from Sarah’s Mom. Riis Beach is close to their Queens home and it’s a place they visit regularly for lazy walks and summer swims, so it added extra meaning to this wonderful moment.
New York Engagement Photos: A Relaxed Approach
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – the most important part of any portrait session is that you feel like your best self, and this is true for New York Engagement Photos as well! To make sure Sarah & Michael felt their best, I took my usual relaxed approach to their session. Photos shouldn’t be scary, they can simply be a celebration of the beautiful everyday moments. I encourage all my couples to just enjoy hanging out in their favorite place and to always focus on each other – talk about your day, swap funny stories, and if the mood takes you, indulge in lazy romantic kisses. Whatever it is – these photos should represent the two of you and the love and excitement of this wonderful time, so don’t be afraid to make sure your New York Engagement Photos are right for you.
